SELL Borgward 230L Limousine 1960 (see picture below)
Model 1960, Perfect running condition. All systems work:
electrical, heater, stereo, etc.
Repainted black original in 1984, excellent interiors
and carpeting.
Six cylinder in line engine. New original German engine
was installed in 1974 and run only 23,000 Km. afterwards.
HISTORY: This model was launched in Germany in 1960. The
Plant was then closed and sold complete to Mexico in 1965.
The Plant was installed in Monterrey, Mexico and started
production in 1968.
This car was built in 1968. The Limousine model was a
special edition and only 10 cars were made for the principal
stockholders and top government officials. This car is the
only known survivor and belonged to one of the stockholders.
Again, the new Borgward auto-maker company went bankrupt
in 1970, dismantling the plant and making new Borgward cars
disappear from the face of the earth; that makes this car a
rare and unique collectors item that is old, in excellent
condition and very scarce.

Subject: Borgward Aeroporter
I am offering for sale as an agent for a friend what is as far as I've
been able to determine the only still extant Borgward Aeroporter bus. It
is a 1960 model, built on the Borgward Bremen B611/0 chassis, with the 4
cylinder, 60 hp engine, and manual transmission. It has under 40K
original miles, and comes with a complete spare engine. This bus was
originally 1 of 4 ordered for the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. Delays
in delivering the vehicles to the United States caused the hotel to
cancel the order after 2 busses had already been shipped from Germany.
This bus was sold new in late 1960 by Taylor Rolls-Royce in Palm Beach
fro what was then the staggering sum of $18,000. It was put into service
as a shuttle bus for an extremely upscale boys camp in NC from 1961 to
1976. (This was the boys camp where the Hilton kids went, etc.) In 1976
the camp was closed, and the bus has been driven only 3 times since. I
was a counselor at this camp it's last year, as well as a camper when I
was younger.
I contacted the Borgward museum in Bremen, and the man I spoke with said
the bus should be worth between $4,500 to $5,000 USD as-is, where-is. It
needs the interior completely restored, and minor mechanical such as
repacking bearings, rebuilding brakes, etc. But it does run. And it is a
beautiful vehicle. Were I not a seminarian studying for the priesthood
in the Episcopal church, I would restore it myself. Alas, I cannot.
Please post this information on your "for sale" section for Borgwards.
I do have JPEG photos I can e-mail any interested parties. The vehicle
is currently near Sylva in the mountains of eastern North Carolina, and
I would even be willing to deliver it within a 500 mile radius. No, I
don't get a commission, I'm just trying to help a friend.
Sincerely, Frank Gough
